To those that visit, I will be taking a break for a few days; need time to respond to your emails. Also, I need time to think about this portrait of poverty ... see you soon.
The saga will continue...until then, peace!
Thank you. ::::
There has been some misunderstanding about the actual numbers of homeless people, because many are residents in skid row hotels.
Yet, imagine walking past a note of death everyday. Home is more then just a word.
Death draws nigh on skid row, it haunts the streets...and you can see it in the eyes, the skin and in the smell of homeless humans.
They wait for death to knock on the door; that is the constant state of a human without shelter.
They fear everything, and have no power to fight anything. Hence, violence becomes the only tool to combat everything.
Money creates influence, power, health and safety... and without it death draws nigh.
I have been around the world many times documenting conflict. However, I have never seen a sticker like this on so many doors before I documented skid row.
Skid Row | Portrait : the story of injustice, fear, and a powerless American enclave living in an era of new urban dreams.
Peace.

Amir pointed me in this direction. I think I shocked my son the other day when I told him that there were few things I feared as much as being poor in this country.
