One cart for life

Posted by Portrait| Los Angeles Skid Row (Los Angeles, United States) on 10 September 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

It is hard to explain the Cartlady because she is simply an icon for poverty, pride, hope and life for the elderly on skid row.

This Cartlady is African-American, however- she is just one of 30 plus older females that I have captured. White, black, latino they all represent a system that failed the classic American worker.

Little to no healthcare, very little savings and no supportive social system to help.

This bent posture is one that most Cartladys have; hence, I wonder how many years of pushing that darn cart caused that posture.

Peace.
