Posted by Portrait| Los Angeles Skid Row (Los Angeles, United States) on 7 September 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.
Over the past six months the police have worked hard to clean-up Crack Alley. They came on horseback, bike and swat trucks. At one time it looked like a back lot of a bad urban movie.
Oh, wait. Skid Row is a major location for major release films. Crack Alley is ...dark, and dusky, fear could grip you at any moment.
Not so much fear of life, but- fear of losing your darn mind. What happens to humans that may cause them to live in the streets?
What is that one element of social pressure that forces one to give up hope!
One last thing about the alley...because of growing gang violence in South Central LA, many of the 50 new police officers will be moved.
And the numbers of people are growing again down the mean streets of Crack Alley. This day, 100's of people lined the alley to smoke, drink and act real crazy.
This image is part of a series that I will post over the next few days.
Peace.
