Posted by Portrait| Los Angeles Skid Row (Los Angeles, United States) on 1 September 2007 in People & Portraits and Portfolio.
This little girl is part of the Church of God choir that comes down to skid row to sing.
I have been documenting this choir as a specific aspect of the Skids for two years.
Kids are clearly honest, and often can share their thoughts with the camera without a word spoken.
I wonder if you can read her eyes... Draw near and look at her story.
This little girl that has watched me as I have watched them on and off for two years.
She and I have never spoke with words. But I have come to learn her struggle, she must want you to understand it also...
Torn between doing good, sharing a good song in Los Angeles' heart of darkness: a little girl up late on streets that should have names like Crime Alley, Trash Court and Poverty Place.
She stands away from the other girls, and she is reflective.
But what do her eyes and posture say?

@kheoh yee wei: Thank you kheoh yee wei for your thoughts.
When my work moves past the point of a simple image and touches someone on the otherside of the globe...humanity wins!
